Recent research published by enterprise mobility services provider iPass claimed that 91 per cent of people who have a device such as an Apple iPad or tablet PC use it for work tasks.
Alexei Lesnykh, business development manager for DeviceLock, said that devices such as the iPad are likely to prove popular with business users because of their large screens, ability to create content and the vast range of applications which have been developed for them.
'However, the IT security impact needs to be taken into consideration and policy set with regard to iPad use in corporate IT,' he commented.
Mr Lesnykh explained that some of the security risks which can be created by mobile equipment include a greater chance of them being lost or stolen, because of their smaller size, or sensitive data being accidently transferred to another device.
