
A survey carried out by Daryl Willcox Publishing found that 54 per cent of small businesses have a social media presence, with 35 per cent of these being active on a daily basis and one-quarter updating every few days.
The research also showed that LinkedIn is the most popular social media platform, being used by 73 per cent of respondents. Some 64 per cent are active on Facebook, while 63 per cent post on Twitter.
When asked about their motives, 68 per cent said they use social media for networking, 63 per cent are attempting to attract new customers and 61 per cent want to raise brand awareness.
