Gerwyn Davies, public policy adviser at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, claimed the latest Office for National Statistics labour market report looks 'strong and encouraging' on first glance.
The research, which was published on August 11th, showed that the number of people unemployed in the UK fell by 49,000 in the three months to June, taking the total down to 2.46 million.
However, Mr Davies added: 'Cracks now seem to be emerging; with a considerable growth in part-time work, lower pay settlements and a slower decline in the claimant count all features of a more uncertain jobs market.'
The expert claimed that the largest factor to impact on the labour market in the near future are the job losses which are expected to be seen in the public sector as a result of widespread spending cuts.
Recently, Recruitment & Employment Confederation chief executive Kevin Green claimed that UK labour market is likely to stall in the coming months, as job creation by private enterprises offsets losses in the public sector.
