A new report from IT analyst Gartner pointed out that most technology firms have spent the past two years reducing their expenditure in a bid to survive the recession and have left themselves lacking the resources to now drive revenue growth.
Jorge Lopez, vice president and distinguished analyst at Gartner, explained: 'For IT leaders, entrepreneurial growth and the shift from a 'problem-focused' organisation to one that is 'opportunity-focused' requires more planning and execution than simply changing the organisation chart.'
The expert also claimed that if IT firms are to boost their revenue growth, they will need to analyse any opportunities which are present in the market, while developing a strategic plan to make the most of these.
Last week, Gartner revealed that spending in the global IT services market fell by 5.3 per cent last year, as firms scaled back their investment.
