
Eversheds has suggested that a hung parliament could have a significant effect on several areas, including EU influence on UK employment laws and the default retirement age (DRA).
Discussing the latter, partner Owen Warnock said while there is cross-party agreement on abandoning the DRA, the details on the move have not yet been decided.
'Currently the DRA enables employers to force staff to retire at 65 and there is much debate about whether this should be raised to 70 or scrapped altogether,' he explained.
'The timing of this reform, and whether there should be any phasing in period, is also hotly debated.'
Last week, the Recruitment and Employment Confederation called on the new government to prioritise the three issues of economic growth, public sector reform and protection for the flexible jobs markets.
