
A poll carried out by hosting and cloud computing provider Rackspace found that 93 per cent of UK enterprises admit they do not have access to cutting-edge technology, with many relying on ageing systems.
The survey also showed that only 28 per cent of firms consider themselves to be early adopters of IT, even though 48 per cent of companies would like to be more strategic and proactive when it comes to IT deployments.
Brian Thomson, managing director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Rackspace, commented: 'Organisations are under intense pressure to innovate, but the majority simply don't have enough time to do this.'
Recent research by technology market researcher IDC predicted that a 2.2 per cent growth rate will be seen in the European IT services market during 2011, after fragile recovery is experienced this year.
