
In news which may interest those in IT jobs, the International Data Corporation's (IDC's) report suggested that server revenue for public cloud computing will grow from $582 million (£392 million) in 2009 to $718 million by 2014.
The larger private cloud market is expected to expand from $7.3 billion to $11.8 billion over the same time period, with the body suggesting the growth will be driven by economic recovery and IT managers looking to rein in complex infrastructures.
Katherine Broderick, research analyst of enterprise platforms and data centre trends, said: 'Now is a great time for many IT organisations to begin seriously considering this technology and employing public and private clouds in order to simplify sprawling IT environments.'
Last week, IDC revealed that the growth of the worldwide smartphone market more than doubled that of the overall mobile phone market in the first quarter of this year.
