A report by employment experts at CV Screen showed that salaries for permanent IT jobs in the UK have increased by two per cent in the last 12 months, with the average standing at £36,818.
CV Screen's Matthew Iveson said: 'We have seen that confidence has returned to the IT jobs market over the last 12 months and as a result salaries have risen.'
He also claimed that the final quarter of 2009 saw an increase in vacancies for IT jobs, as employers started recruiting again after implementing freezes during the downturn.
Mr Iveson also suggested employers are looking for IT job candidates with web development skills and PHP expertise, while Java and .NET skills are currently in demand.
Earlier this month, Laurie Boyall, managing director of recruitment agency McGregor Boyall, wrote on Contractor UK that there are plenty of opportunities for IT contractors looking for work in the financial services sector.
