The Information Security Awareness Forum, PricewaterhouseCoopers, the National Federation of Fraud Forums, Portsmouth University and the Security Institute recently published a report which showed that IT attacks are becoming increasingly converged.
However, it showed that companies are not responding appropriately and deploying joined-up security solutions to counter the threat.
Commenting on the findings, Martin Smith, chairman and founder of the Security Awareness Special Interest Group, pointed out the importance of organisations working together if they are to defeat the varied IT threats facing them.
'When you protect one part of the chain as hard as you like, but another part of the chain is weak and lets you down, then your work is in vain,' he explained.
The expert also recommended that security experts should pool their specialist knowledge in order to develop plans which can prepare companies for all types of IT threat.
