Speaking at the UC Expo, Jon Neville, general manager of the Enterprise VPN Users Association, claimed that many big businesses are looking to reduce their total cost of investment in IT.
The expert said that this means many companies are currently finding it hard to implement UC solutions across their organisation, but suggested this could be solved as more look to the cloud.
He explained: 'The next step is going to cloud computing. [It] actually almost gets them around implementing UC solutions because they get everything off the cloud.'
Mr Neville said that cloud computing can allow firms to deploy UC while reducing their overall spending on IT and predicted more big businesses will do this as the economy starts to recover from the economic downturn.
Recent research from email management company Mimecast found that 62 per cent of IT decision makers are considering making use of cloud computing.
