The Birmingham Post revealed that Maverick Television, which makes the Embarrassing Bodies series, will create a new service that allows people in the region to contact frontline healthcare staff through an online channel.
In addition, people will be able to find online health resources and information though blogs, interactive tools and video through the portal.
A Maverick Television spokeswoman told the newspaper that the firm 'is thrilled to be working with the NHS in the West Midlands to prototype an innovative digital health service that will support NHS staff and the public throughout the region'.
NHS West Midlands added that the new project will see a range of local digital health services developed which allow patients to manage their own wellbeing and support the organisation in delivering a high standard of frontline care.
In 2008, Maverick Television won the best innovation and multimedia accolade at the 2008 RTS Midlands Awards for the online content developed for Embarrassing Bodies.
