A recent survey performed by Easynet Connect found that 50 per cent of small firms said they will use the technology in the next 12 months, growing from 22 per cent saying this at the end of 2008, which may create IT jobs.
In addition, the number of small companies expecting to deploy cloud computing in the next five years has risen from 47 per cent in 2008 to 73 per cent by the end of 2009.
Chris Stening, managing director of Easynet Connect, said: 'Cloud computing has been on the business radar for some time and our report proves that we are at the tipping point for mass adoption amongst small and medium-sized businesses.'
The poll also found that fewer firms think they will never implement cloud computing technologies, falling from 53 per cent to just 27 per cent of respondents.
On February 10th, legal and commercial experts will attend an event in London which examines the impact of international law on cloud computing use.
