Last month, recruitment guru Simon Page wrote on Freshbusinessthinking.com that firms are increasingly vetting potential candidates through their social networking profiles before inviting them for an interview.
Industry expert Richard Doherty agreed that the innovations are likely to become more important over the coming 12 months, as companies attempt to attract the top talent for IT jobs.
He pointed out that last year it was only early adopters who tried to use social networking in their recruitment efforts, but many of these attempts lacked a wider strategy.
The expert also claimed that firms will increase the use of the technology to enhance their brand appeal among potential candidates.
'Corporate recruiters will be following what many recruitment agencies are already doing and using social networks to provide company information and set up interest groups to source candidates,' Mr Doherty explained.
