
Tink Taylor, managing director of online marketing agency dotMailer, said that firms will attempt to integrate their email campaigns with social networking.
The expert pointed out that previous research has shown people who use social media tend to open more email that others, making them an attractive target for online marketing campaigns.
'More people have now realised the benefit of linking social media with email and that is going to be a trend that will continue,' he added.
Mr Taylor also said that companies are looking at ways to boost customer engagement so they are more likely to open emails containing promotional messages.
Last month, research by Silverpop found that four out of ten marketers said their budgets for email campaigns will increase in 2010, while 47 per cent revealed they will be maintained at their current level.
